Overview of Fender Telecaster Electric Guitar
Kathryn Sandberg
Product Description
Bold, innovative and rugged, the Player Telecaster is pure Fender, through and through. The feel, the style and, most importantly, the sound, they're all there, waiting for you to make them whisper or wail for your music. Versatile enough to handle almost anything you can create and durable enough to survive any gig, this workhorse is a trusty sidekick for your musical vision.
From the manufacturer
Player Series Single-Coil Telecaster Pickups
Respecting Fender's heritage while maintaining their innovative spirit, the pair of Player Series single-coil Telecaster pickups are crisp and articulate—it’s authentic Fender tone with a modern edge.
The Player Series Telecaster Pickups contain Alnico 5 magnetic pole pieces which provide rich and balanced bass response, punchy mid-range, and crystalline bell like highs with enhanced focus and dynamics.
Player Series Telecaster Bridge with Block Saddles
To enhance the traditional twang and bite of a Telecaster, Fender added block saddles to the string-through-body bridge for precise intonation and to help your sound cut through the mix, sustaining until the sun burns out.

Alder Body WoodSince 1956, alder has been the main wood used on Stratocasters, Telecasters, Precision Basses and Jazz Basses. Alder is noted for bright, balanced and resonant tone with pronounced upper midrange, excellent sustain, and sharp attack. |
Modern 'C' Shaped 22-Fret Neck with 9.5" Radius FingerboardThe 'Modern C' -shaped maple neck’s comfortable contours and smooth finish are ideal for almost any playing style. By adding a 22nd medium jumbo fret to the contemporary 9.5”-radius fingerboard Fender made it easier to express yourself musically. |
Authentic Fender Tone and StylingPure and simple, this instrument features classic Fender tone styling that evokes and honors the timeless Fender mainstays that came before it and contributed crucial DNA. From the quietest chord to the loudest note, and from the rear strap button to the top of the head stock, it’s the very essence of classic Fender design. |
Your Trusted Sidekick Awaits
Play it. Hang it. Smash it. Standard series instruments are durable, reliable rock ‘n’ roll warriors that can take a beating as they take you places. Packed with player-friendly features and born to perform, this isn’t your run-of-the-mill starter guitar. Then again, it’s not meant for a run-of-the-mill player.

Both guitars were visually appealing and both sounded great. They both have the same body. The hardware and pickups on the American are upgraded, but the ones on the this guitar are still pretty good quality and they have improved the pickups from last years MIM, which I believe was called Standard series instead of Player series. The biggest difference aside from the price being half that of the USA, was the neck. The Player Series neck (I have been playing it hours every day since I bought it a month ago) plays like butter. It is fast and narrow and the action very low. My fingers just slide all around effortlessly and my rough callouses from my acoustic playing have smoothed out into just hard fingertips that glide along the strings.
The neck on the USA model was a bit thicker and slightly wider, which for me, makes it hard to comfortably fret the 6th string. Please take into consideration I am female and have small hands, so it may not mean much for you if you are a man, but I think it increases speed if that’s what you’re interested in.
Aside from all of that, the guitar sounds great. Quintessential Tele sound is achievable, as well as other sounds. GC didnt have the Polar White and they couldn’t even get it, so I bought it here on Amazon. I called the number on this page and even got a discount. I Got the Polar White and it is stunning. Absolutely flawless!
Only complaint, as another reviewer has said, the packaging was poor. It arrived in a cardboard box ( the original Fender box) without any kind of neck support or cushioning what so ever. Alarming for any guitar enthusiast. Luckily, after removing the guitar from the box, the guitar was perfect and had no issues. It really would be in the customer’s best interest, and also in Fender’s best interest to do a better job packaging the guitar. Just some cardboard supports around the neck and some foam around the body is all it would take.
I highly recommend this guitar.
I'm adjusting the height of the pickups to my taste but otherwise for me the setup is just right.
Absolutely beautiful guitar, and I find it really fun to play, very comfortable. Mine did not include a case, so I got a Fender gig bag that works well. And in my opinion, a fantastic value!
I was lucky this time around. Ordered it based on the specs and reviews. It was delivered on time by you know who, UPS. Good price. Thanks Amazon.
It had factory 9 gauge strings. I play 10's. It was later changes to 10's. It needed a complete setup $100. It plays great. I play most on the bridge mode. I am not disappointed The Luthier was very impressed by the built and sound. I play several types of music. Country, Jazz, Standards, Rock and Blues. It does a good job. After 35 years of playing and entertaining I am satisfied with this Fender. I have had many guitars through out the years. And I am always leary, about foreign products. This one is a Mexican product. Fender in Corona, Ca. says they design it, but the Mexico factory assembles the guitar. That is where is the cost is reduced. An American Telecaster is about 80% more expensive, only because its comes from the USA.
Buy this guitar and spend some money on the "setup". It will play great. Ciao!
But more than that, this guitar is very versatile.
She can be a sweet and polite girl, a country one with a thick southern accent or a hot and dirty one with a lot of attitude. You pick the mood and just have fun!
I love my new fender telecaster and it’s my main axe now!
If you can’t afford an American one, you’re not missing too much by buying the player series, it is in fact a much better value for the money!
If you’re on a tight budget I would suggest the Squier affinity telecaster or the classic vibe, they are truly amazing guitars for the money too.
I would like to wrap up my review by sharing my experience buying this guitar on Amazon.
PROS:
+ Good sale price and fast shipping
+ Amazing tones and playability
+ Great stock pickups
+ Good value for the money
+ Very versatile guitar: you can play country, blues, pop, jazz, rock and even use it as a self-defense weapon.
CONS:
- The guitar is shipped in a very simple box with very little protection, I can see how some people had problems with damage and dents on the guitar, thankfully mine was perfect.
- The tone knob of my guitar is a little scratchy and pickup switch knob is loose, it’s not a hard fix but I guess at this price point this is something that can happen.
- Amazon doesn’t offer a price adjustment I bought it on sale with 15% discount, then they lowered the price to 25% discount a few days later but customer service refused to adjust the price for me.
I could’ve sent the guitar back and buy it again cheaper but I’m already emotionally attached to her and I didn’t wanna risk receiving a damaged one for the reasons I mentioned above.
Overall I’m very happy with the guitar but not so happy about Amazon customers service.
Hope this was a helpful review.
Regardless of what I said you can’t go wrong with a Fender Telecaster!
Cheers!
